Now it’s time to ask yourself, “so what?” Who else should care about the topic you wrote about? Why should they care? Why is it important?

  1. Identify a category of people who should know more about your research – for example young women, or US voters, or people over 50, or college students, etc. They are your audience.
The category of people that should know more about this subject are college students/ African Americans that want to know more about there original history. Those that are unaware of the origins of Africa, and believed they had no identity or freedom. Also that there were many invaluable resources that were stripped from Africa and use for trade.
  1. What portion of your research is most important for your audience to know about? Highlight 2 to 4 key ideas, concepts or facts from your research they should know about. Why is important for them to know these key ideas, etc.? Might it help them personally? Might it make our world better in some small or large way? Can the key ideas, etc. be linked to an objective system of ethics or values such as the Hallmarks, Catholic Social Teaching, or another system?
The conquerors took over Africa and used fear as a means to have complete control over the people. The weapons and war tactics used to capture the Africans gave them an advantage and made it easier to colonize the land. As slaves were being taken away from Africa, the land was being mined and stripped, as Europeans would began their devastating and illegal claim to land as they gained control of Africa.
Initially, West African countries were the main targets for Europeans capturing Africans. This was due to the fact that there were many resources -  both human and natural taken from those west African countries. The Europeans were able to strip the resources from the land and, colonize and enslave people. Some of these countries included Ghana, Ivory Coast, Benin, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. Even Though Western Africa was among  the first to have their land conquered and colonized. Many other countries south north, and east were the next targets for colonizing. This eventually lead to the whole continent being colonized.
  1. What is the best way to communicate your key ideas to your audience? Would it be a newspaper article? A drawing or painting? A poem? A youtube video? A dance? A brochure? An essay? Determine the best format for you to use in communicating your ideas to your audience.
I’m going to write a poem about the events that occurred during the colonialism period in Africa

Colonialism Poem
Disruption of peace true identity has ceased
No knowledge creates disbelief of original creed
Forced slavery and brutal demands from strange men
With dangerous weapons and unreasonable commands
Stripped life from the land created strife within man
New lands that weren’t home burdened minds
But were adopted along with trials and despare which correlate with design
Culture was lost or Frost to be forgotten such as Kings and Queens
Who were forced to perform manual labor like picking cotton
Cultural genocide that resides in a Distant land
But these cultural devices wont be forgotten
As long as connections are made with strength, ignorance softends
There was blood shed with bodies dropping with no coffins
Oil drilled out of the ground tue African identities in the los and found
The strong taken out first with no remorse despare with no recourse
All for the land that has so much to give,
But no help was given to those who lived
